About Me.
I am a therapist and clinical social worker. Foregrounding a depth-oriented style, I primarily work with adults seeking to understand their emotional worlds in deeper and novel ways. Feel free to explore my specialties page for more details on specific areas in which I specialize.
With an early interest in existential philosophy, personality psychology, and emerging developments in neuroscience, I found psychotherapy as the optimal space to integrate various intellectual and creative interests that spoke to me.
This culminated in receiving my Masters in Social Work (2018) and completing the Integrated Child and Adult Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Program through the Seattle Psychoanalytic Society and Institute (2021).
Working from a Relational Psychoanalytic perspective, I incorporate Existential, Human-Centered, and Object Relations modalities into my practice.
I currently hold active social work licenses in both California and Washington state.
My Approach.
I find that therapy is most effective when certain norms are established. Chief among these is a spirit of warmth and emotional safety for you to share your story freely and openly. As a part of the psychoanalytic tradition, I will encourage you to take the lead in our sessions, foregrounding your voice and autonomy as we collaboratively work through your pain together. I center the therapeutic relationship, encouraging us to continually fine-tune what is needed in the therapy.
I work from a relational psychoanalytic perspective, integrating attachment theory, helping you understand your motivations, patterns, and relationships with yourself and others. Sometimes we’ll reflect on early experiences, sometimes focus on what’s hard right now, and sometimes explore how therapy itself feels. I create a space for you to talk freely and prefer a collaborative, client-led approach where we uncover deeper insights together.
Therapy is not just a conversation between two people. It’s a sacred place to slow down, to process, to think with another who privileges your thoughts, feelings and ideas. Therapy offers the unique opportunity to get to know your whole self — healthy and unhealthy patterns -- in a way that allows for healing, growth, and transformation. As a time and space for you to get in touch with your most genuine self, I am committed to helping you navigate the intricate landscape of your mind and freeing yourself from what holds you back.
It takes deep and honest work to know oneself. It’s easy to live the unexamined life and fall into what Thoreau called “leading the life of quiet desperation”. You don’t have to live a psychologically shallow and mediocre life. The therapy journey is the door to a life of insight and healthy relationships.
Therapy can be a lot more than just learning skills. It can be a place where you experientially live differently, while staying true to your self.
The only true voyage of discovery…would be not to visit strange lands but to possess other eyes. We are healed of a suffering only by experiencing it to the full.
